She is SO grounded!
Naysa gave us a good scare on Sunday while at a friend's bbq. Ben had her on tummy time on his chest and I looked over and noticed there was a bulge on her incision site. I reached over to feel it and her whole head was tight where it's usually soft and squishy. We of course freaked out and left the party to take her to the ER at Children's. Our thoughts were that she was developing hydrocephalus and would need another surgery to place a shunt in to drain the excess fluid. Thankfully we got right back there without so much as a 5 min wait, they hooked her up to vitals and took her temp which was all normal. They called the neurosurgeon and explained what we said and they saw. Basically they didn't do anything and we were told to make an appointment with Dr. Levy this week. I called Monday morning but we couldn't get squeezed in so we went today. He measured her head which was right on track with growth(yay!)and examined her scar which is healing nicely and determined no hydrocephalus!! THANK GOD! He said the reason for the bulge is more than likely because her brain is growing the way it's supposed to but there's just no bone there to conceal it like in "normal" baby heads. He said it's nothing to worry about even though he knows I will and that if anything it's just a pain in the ass lol. I feel better but I will stil be keeping a close eye on it. She goes back the 16th for head measurement and another check up.

What a relief. Honestly, I'm still scared to death. No matter how good our prognosis has been, it seems there are a thousand things to keep scaring parents even after the surgery is done!
ReplyDeleteIt's so great that she's doing so well. I keep telling Liam, he has to follow her example when he's born!
