MRI Results

Today we finally got results, well..."as good as it gets" results for now. The good news is that the encephalocele is still relatively small (little less than 2cm) and doesn't contain much brain, mostly fluid. It's occipital and high up on her head. There are no signs of hydracephalus which is also very good. Everything else, heart, lungs, kidneys, etc are all perfectly healthy and developing on track :) The Dr. said something that made me feel a little better too. He said just because the parts of the brain in the encephalocele won't work at all or work properly, doesn't mean she will have severe disabilities. Everything depends on what parts of the brain are affected and as far as he can see on the MRI the location of it will mostly affect vision. He also said that people can have perfectly normal looking brains and turn out to be serial killers or have other mental issues, which I thought was good point. Also, we found out we are going to San Diego! I am so happy to know that Naysa will have the care of that children's hospital and specialists she deserves. It's relieving that we will have good friends nearby and family closer than a day away. We don't know details on the flight or where we will be staying in SD yet, but I will keep everyone updated. Oh! We got back to the room today and saw the message light blinking, which I assumed was a call from the Dr. but it was the front desk saying we had mail. I then thought it was our blood test results from the genetic counseling appt but the man pulled out a purple envelope and I know the confusion showed on my face. It turns out it was a beautiful card from the Page's :) Thank you so much for all the love and support, the card came on the perfect day and it means a lot to know that everyone is praying for us.
